Biography of Pastor Melvin W. Johnson II Pastor Melvin Willie Johnson II was born and raised in Inglewood, California. At the early age of 7. His father the late Dr. Melvin Willie Johnson Sr. opened grounds to spiritual beginnings for him and his family. In July 1974 the doors were opened to the Church of the Living God, PGT in Inglewood, California. His mother Shirley Ann Johnson saved her tithes for over a year to purchase the church’s first piano. Pastor Melvin Johnson II worked within the music ministry of his father’s church for over 25 years. He played the drums, the organ, sang in the mass choir and held many prestigious leadership positions within the church. Pastor Melvin Johnson II was taught and educated under his father’s leadership. His father has always seen spiritual gifts within his son and declared God’s anointing over his life. Dr. Johnson would always say, “Melvin, you are the chip off the old block and I know God has ordained something great for your life. ” Pastor Melvin W. Johnson II always knew he was predestined to do the Will of God and in July 1995 he was called to preach the gospel. After a year of ministry training, Pastor Johnson was officially ordained and licensed to preach the gospel,walking in the footsteps of his father. After the death of his father in November 2000, the church voted and decreed Pastor Melvin W. Johnson II as the next pastor of the church where he pastored for over 4 years. He loved ministering to the people of God in Inglewood California but God had another plan for his life. In February 2004 God spoke a word to Pastor Johnson spirit and said, “I will send you to a foreign land and expand your territory.” Right then he began preparing to relocate to Houston Texas. Prior to leaving Inglewood, California he was officially ordained as Overseer for the Heart Action Association of Churches under the leadership of  Bishop Wilford Raiford and Dr. Shirley Ann Raiford. In July 2004 he and his family packed up and moved to Houston Texas, not knowing a single soul, BUT GOD! While following the direction of the Holy Spirit, he and his family joined Southwest Community Christian Center “The Bridge” in Houston Texas under the leadership of Dr. Gregg Patrick. He immediately began working in ministry preaching the word of God, praying for God’s people and ministering to those around him while waiting on the voice of the Lord. In February 2006 God began speaking to Pastor Melvin W. Johnson II. He placed a great urgency within his spirit which declared his time to do what God had called for him to do. God said, “For this is the reason why I have sent you to this foreign land so that you may do my will according to the promise I have given you.”. So on September 3, 2006 the doors were opened to God’s Temple of Praise Community Church in Katy Texas. To God be the Glory for all that he has done!!!! |
