 1st Lady Nena Johnson was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She first received Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of 14. As her former pastor the late Dr. Melvin W. Johnson, Sr. from The Church of the Living God in Inglewood California approached her, he had her recite the sinner’s prayers, and told her to give it all to Jesus. She immediately fell under the anointing of God and was saved and filled with the gift of speaking in tongues. She then became a member of the church, changed her lifestyle and joined several ministries within the church. This was the beginning of her life as a soldier in the army of the Lord. Several months later God showed her, her future in a dream. She was on a date at the beach with the Pastor’s Son whom she didn’t know by name, she simply called him, “The Drummer Boy” since he was the church drummer at the time. She found it quite odd and didn’t understand what God was saying but immediately she tri ed to fight the feelings that had now began to grow for him. A few weeks later “Drummer Boy” asked her out on a date and they’ve been inseparable every since. Truly it was God’s divine purpose and ordained plan for their lives. After 4 years of dating, in August 1989 they were married and began a family together. 6 years into their marriage God called her husband into the ministry. He was licensed and ordained in July 1996 and have been preaching God’s Holy word every since. Knowing that God had a special calling over her life as well, she tried to ignore the voice of the Lord by keeping busy in other areas of the church. She was one of the financial officers, worked on the administrative staff, sang in the choir and taught adult Sunday school. After much prayer and supplication, God confirmed his calling in her life and she was officially licensed and ordained in July 2004 by Bishop Wilford and Shirley Ann Raiford of the Heart Action Association of Churches. First Lady Nena Johnson is an anointed woman of God. She is “transparent” and “Keeps it Real” and is often called a living testimony to all those around her. She is the First Lady of God’s Temple of Praise Community Church in Katy Texas and the director of the G.W.O.P (God’s Women of Purpose) Ministry where she strives to encourage women to walk in their divine purpose as they develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. She is also the host of the Annual Women at the Feet of Jesus conference where women from all over come together in the spirit of unity to be transformed, encouraged, equipped, empowered and revived in the Lord. She is the proud mother of 5. Shirday, Dijan, Deja, Aaron & “Mr. Corey”, and the grandmother of 1, Ms. Carmen Alexis Johnson. She has been married to Pastor Melvin W. Johnson II for over 19 years.
