Pastor Melvin Johnson II
Pastor Melvin Willie Johnson II was born and raised in the Inglewood, California.
When he was only 7 years old, his father the late Dr. Melvin Willie Johnson Sr. opened grounds
to spiritual beginnings for him and his family. In July 1974 the doors were opened to the Church of the Living God,
PGT in Inglewood, California. His mother Shirley Ann Johnson saved her tithes for over a year and purchased the
church’s first piano.
Pastor Melvin Johnson worked within the music ministry of his father’s church for over 25 years.
He played the drums, the organ, sang in the mass choir and held many prestigious leadership positions
within the youth and teen department. He has always been intrigued by the word of God and has always
loves a spiritual challenge whenever possible; always challenging those around him during Bible Study,
Vacation Bible school, and all biblical activities.
Pastor Melvin Johnson was taught and educated under his father’s leadership. His father always saw
greatness in his son and would always declare God’s word in his life. Dr. Johnson would always
say, “you’re the chip off the old block and I know God has ordained something great in you.”
Pastor Johnson always knew he was predestined to do the will of God and in July 1995 God called him to preach
the gospel.
During Pastor Johnson’s training period, he studied the oracles of God and began preaching once a month
during the main service. In July 1996 he was officially ordained and licensed as a highly anointed and
powerful preacher in the word of God following in the footsteps of his beloved father.
After the death of his father in November 2000, the church voted and decreed Pastor Melvin Johnson
as the next pastor of his father’s church where he pastored for over 4 years. He loved ministering to
God’s people in the city of Inglewood but God had another plan. In February 2004 God began moving
Pastor Johnson in another direction. God said to Pastor Johnson’s spirit, “I will send you to a foreign
land and expand your territory.” Prior to leaving Inglewood, California he was officially ordained as
Overseer for the Heart Action Association of Churches under the leadership of Bishop Wilford Raiford
and Dr. Shirley Raiford.
In July 2002 he and his family packed up and moved to Houston Texas, no knowing a single soul, BUT GOD!
While following the direction of God, he and his family joined Southwest Community Church “The Bridge” in
Houston Texas under the leadership of Dr. Gregg Patrick, a dynamic man of God. Dr. Patrick took Pastor Johnson
under his wing and allowed him to use the gifts within him. He immediately began working in ministry preaching
the word of God, praying for God’s people and ministering to those around him while waiting on the voice of God.
In February 2006 God began speaking to Pastor Johnson. He placed a great urgency within his spirit
which declared his time to do what God has called. God said, “for this is the reason why I have sent
you to this foreign land so that you may do my will according to the promise I have given you.”
And now here we are, new beginnings, new ministry, new city and a new zeal......
